MILESTONE DOCUMENTS SERIES

A new reference series focused on primary source documents from U.S. and world history

Series Editor: Paul Finkelman, President William McKinley Distinguished Professor of Law and Public Policy, Albany Law School

Primary source documents occupy a central role in the study of history. Most existing reference sources, however, treat these documents as an afterthought. Our new series aims to fill this gap by offering students and researchers in-depth, analytical essays about famous primary source documents from U.S. and world history. The first publication in the series, Milestone Documents in American History: Exploring the Primary Sources That Shaped America , includes articles about more than 130 iconic documents from our nation's history. In 2009 we'll publish Milestone Documents of American Leaders. Its unique biographical approach to the issue will feature articles about important figures in American history, with each article analyzing the key primary source documents written by the person and discussing how these documents helped shape the person's place in history.

Future volumes in the series include Milestone Documents in World History (2009), Milestone Documents of World Leaders (2010), and Milestone Documents of World Religions (2010). The entire series is available in print and electronic form through Salem Press. To order, call 800-221-1592.
