In his own words, pt. 4: A conversation with Schlager Group founder, Neil Schlager

Every week we’re sharing excerpts from our exclusive interview with Neil Schlager. Today he discusses how the company’s Schlager Digital Library platform is addressing the affordability of instructional resources for students—a topic of perennial concern in higher education.

“Because the Schlager Digital Library works at the intersection of research/reference and course materials, it aligns with institutional efforts surrounding textbook affordability. Once a library acquires the Schlager Digital Library, all students can access the Essential Primary Sources collection at no cost. And because the platform is DRM-free with unlimited downloads and simultaneous users, faculty have the ability to assign any piece of content (book or article) in the collection directly on their syllabus. In this way, the collection functions for faculty and students like an Open Educational Resource (OER).”
